Age is just a number – Part 1

Welcome back!

This post is a continuation of the Be Inspired series and is addressing the “seasoned” generation. I will chat about the younger generation during the next installment. So stay tuned.

While on the journey to discover what our “dream” is and being an inspiration, one of the first things that immediately derails us is our age.

For the seasoned generation, doubts enter in and we hear whispers of, “I’m too old…”, “It’s too late…”, “It’s too much…”, and etc.

C.S. Lewis (Author) spoke to this when he said:

You are never too old to set another goal or dream a new dream.

We let fear (False Evidence Appearing Real) rob us of the blessings God has planned to bring forth through us. Psalms 92:14 (GW) states, “Even when they are old, they still bear fruit. They are always healthy and fresh.

Fresh is described as “full of or renewed in vigor,” in the Merriam-Webster dictionary. This means that not only will we produce wonderful things that inspire others, but we will be healthy and have staying power (energy, strength, stamina). What fantastic promises!

I understand that it is easy to get set in our ways. We like having a routine. We like knowing what to expect, at least we think we do. It’s comfortable. But comfort is not always good. We settle in and get stagnant.

Henry Winkler (Actor/Director/Writer) recently said, “As you get older you have a choice, you can either push your boundaries or close yourself off. No matter how old you get, go outside your comfort zone and see what the world has to offer.

The key points I want to make from this are:

  1. We need to push past our limitations, our fears, & our routines to become an impact
  2. We need to get comfortable with being uncomfortable

Age doesn’t matter, it’s just a number! Whether you are young or old, God can use you.

If it’s causing you to doubt or become fearful, then I encourage you to trust God, pray and push past it. Be the inspiration you are destined to be!

Thank you for your time. Be Blessed… LR Maddox

  1. Sometime as we get older we close our world off around ourselfs for many different reason. But mostly it’s a fear of a world we know longer want or understand. If we continue to keep our trust in God, he will protect us & help us imbrace the changes and use us to advance his kingdom…..
