Write It Down!

I truly believe that God has a reason for everything, even at times when we do not know why. I hope that the last three blog entries have helped, touched, or encouraged someone.

Now, I’m jumping back in the Be Inspired series to continue after the “I’ve Got One – Test Results” blog post. I’ve included the link to it, in case you would like to reread it again. So, let’s proceed with those who have a dream from God that passed the test. I would like to use this comment from the blog as the starting point, “You’ve heard from God regarding your dream, so continue to pray about it and listen to Him. Trust what God tells you and obey what He says.”

What do you do next? Write it down!! Write down everything that he’s told you, even if it’s only “what” the dream is. He will continue to give you more insight and when that happens, capture that too.

We have clear direction on this from God that can be found in Habakkuk 2: 1-2 (ESV), “I will take my stand at my watchpost and station myself on the tower, and look out to see what he will say to me…” And the Lord answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.

You will notice that the first part of the scripture, he is staying ready to hear what God will say to him. Also, he mentions that the Lord answered him. This means he asked God about it (prayer) and he waited, expecting to hear back from Him concerning it (trust). This is what we should be doing; Pray, Expect, Trust, and Listen.

The second part of the scripture was the answer from God to write the vision and make it plain. A couple of key synonyms of the word “plain” are basic and simple. All we need to do is to use simple words to write down what He has told us. Most likely, we will need help with our vision, so using basic words will make it easy for others to run beside us to execute it.

When you write down your dream it becomes real. Steve Maraboli (Speaker/Author) once stated, “If you have a goal, write it down. If you do not write it down, you do not have a goal – you have a wish.” God has given us something that we will need to put into action.

Emmett Smith (retired NFL Football Player) stated it perfectly, “Vision gets the dreams started.”

Whether you use a vision board or put it on paper, just be sure to place it where you will see it (i.e. on a refrigerator, bedroom dresser, medicine cabinet, journal, etc.). It will be a daily reminder to keep you encouraged.

Finally, I’d like to leave you with this quote from Bo Bennett (Speaker/Author), “A dream becomes a goal when action is taken toward its achievement.” I encourage you to take your first tangible step towards getting your dream started and write the vision!

Thank you for your time. Be Blessed… LR Maddox
