Within the last week, three well-known people have committed suicide. We have seen the headlines and heard the comments of “shocking”; “a tragedy”; “unbelievable”; and “I would never have expected them…” During this timeframe, the title of this post has been on repeat mode in my head. It would be remiss of me to ignore it and say nothing. So, let me assure you that we are not alone!
God wants to use us to impact, touch, and inspire the lives of others, which is what this Be Inspired series is all about. At times, we may never know who we impacted or how exactly we helped them; the only requirement is that we be a willing vessel.
Anyone who follows Christ is promised life. Satan’s goal is to destroy us, so he wants to get us away from God. Then we would be alone and no longer protected. Jesus said in John 10:9-10 (NIV), “I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved… The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
We may not know what someone is going through, but we can always start with a smile and depend on God to give us any words to say. Mother Teresa (Nun and Missionary) once said, “We shall never know all the good that a simple smile can do.” She is also known for saying, “Words which do not give the light of Christ increase the darkness.”
Please know that you are not alone and share that truth with others. God is with us always, no matter what is happening in our lives! This promise can be found in Isaiah 43:1-3 (NIV):
¹But now, this is what the Lord says… “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
²When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
³For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior…”
Finally, I would like you to listen to one of my favorite songs by Kari Jobe called, “I am Not Alone.” May it give you peace and comfort knowing that, “You are NOT Alone!” Song – I Am Not Alone
Thank you for your time. Be Blessed… LR Maddox
