Hope – that bubbling ingredient in life which is like carbonation in a drink, giving it zest, keeping it in motion, always pushing it up (quote by DePree).
For a short word, it carries much power! We frequently use it in our vocabulary, often starting with, “I hope…” as we are anticipating a positive result. It keeps us going even when things may not look favorable. We are encouraged to do this in Psalms 31:24 (GNT), “Be strong, be courageous, all you that hope in the Lord.”
In the Merriam-Webster dictionary hope is defined as: to cherish a desire with anticipation, to want something to happen or be true. My favorite definition is; to expect with confidence because that’s what we should be doing when we have put our trust in God.
Per Ian Fleming (Author), hope should be the fuel to start our day. He said:
Hope makes a good breakfast. Eat plenty of it.
No matter what is going on in your life, always remain hopeful! Let it be that bubbly ingredient that you continually push up while confidently expecting a positive result.
“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13 (NLT)
Don’t forget when you’re having breakfast, be sure to fill ‘er up on some hope!
