Have you wondered whether you are on the right road to success?
In the story of Joseph, his road to success was very bumpy. He had two dreams at age 17 that he would be in a position of power & authority.
Shortly after that, he began to encounter some potholes; he was sold to merchants by his brothers, he was taken to Egypt and sold to Potiphar as a servant, then he was falsely accused of trying to sleep with Potiphar’s wife, and thrown into prison due to those accusations. At age 30, he was brought to Pharaoh to interpret his dreams, and because he wisely explained them through knowledge from God, he was made second-in-command over Egypt (see Genesis chapters 37, 39-41). Wow, that was 13 years later!
Why am I telling you this? Because no matter what happened or even how long it took Joseph to implement his dream, he had successes along the way. In Potiphar’s house (Gen 39:3b NIV), it was said that, “… the Lord gave him success in everything he did.” Even in prison (Gen 39:23b), “… the Lord was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did.” He was obviously on the right road, regardless of the bumps.
How can you get success even when facing bumps in the road? Follow the example Joseph set by always trusting/relying on and acknowledging God. Here’s Joseph’s response when Pharaoh said he’d heard he could interpret dreams; “I cannot do it,” Joseph replied to Pharaoh, “but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires.” (Gen 41:16 NIV)
I like what C.S. Lewis (Author) said about how to address each day:
Relying on God has to begin all over again every day as if nothing had yet been done.
Wow, that is a way of demonstrating true trust! Each morning before getting out of bed, I say this verse as a simple prayer from Psalms 143:8 (NIV), “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.”
No matter what size or how many bumps you encounter on the road to establishing your dream, by relying on and acknowledging God daily, he will put you on the road to success.
May you trust His promise, “I will point out the road that you should follow. I will be your teacher and watch over you.” (Psalms 32:8 CEV)
Thank you for your time. Be Blessed… LR Maddox
