Where are you Christmas?

Have you lost the unabashed delight of Christmas? Has it become a robotic routine of shopping, decorating, baking, parties, and etc.? Are you feeling frustrated, empty, overwhelmed, or stressed, instead of joyful? Maybe you think it is too commercialized or competitive and can identify with how Mary Lou Who felt in the “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” movie.

I love Faith Hill’s song, “Where Are You Christmas” which is from the movie (link). Spend a moment and listen to it, the lyrics are listed below.

At first, they cannot find Christmas and questions why it has gone away. Because their “world” has changed then maybe it has too. What’s key is that they realize they have changed over time, not Christmas. It is still everywhere, it never fades away, and it fills your heart with love. They have let the “things of the world” slowly pull them away from the real meaning of Christmas.

Christmas was birthed in love. John 3:16 TPT says, “For this is how much God loved the world—he gave his one and only, unique Son as a gift. So now everyone who believes in him will never perish but experience everlasting life.” This was not meant to be a once-a-year kind of love, but one we have access to every day.

If you are searching for the true joy of Christmas, I encourage you to receive the gift God gave us so long ago, his son Jesus (if you haven’t previously). Also, be willing to give the gift of love by sharing your time, talent, and/or treasure (finances) with someone who would appreciate it in their time of need. By doing this, you will find your Christmas delight once again and will feel like it all the time.

Merry Christmas! Be Blessed… LR Maddox

Where Are You Christmas – Lyrics by Faith Hill
Where are you Christmas
Why can’t I find you
Why have you gone away
Where is the laughter
You used to bring me
Why can’t I hear music play

My world is changing
I’m rearranging
Does that mean Christmas changes too

Where are you Christmas
Do you remember
The one you used to know
I’m not the same one
See what the time’s done
Is that why you have let me go

Christmas is here everywhere, oh
Christmas is here if you care, oh

If there is love in your heart and your mind
You will feel like Christmas all the time

I feel you Christmas
I know I’ve found you
You never fade away
The joy of Christmas
Stays here in silence
Fills each and every heart with love

Where are you Christmas
Fills your heart with love
