The Key to Unity

Love is the cause of unity in all things.” – Aristotle

The key to unity is love. But let’s be honest, loving people is not easy… the personalities, behaviors, and ATTITUDES! So, how are we supposed to do this?

The answer is found in Matthew 22:37-39 TLB: “Jesus replied, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. The second most important is similar: ‘Love your neighbor as much as you love yourself.’”

Before we can successfully love others, there are other steps we need to complete first:
1. Love God
2. Love Yourself and then
3. Love Your Neighbor

Let’s address the first step in this post, love God. Why love God? “God is love… God showed his love for us when he sent his only Son into the world to give us life. Real love isn’t our love for God, but his love for us. God sent his Son to be the sacrifice by which our sins are forgiven.” 1 John 4:8-10, 19 CEV.

God proved His love on the Cross. When Christ hung, and bled, and died, it was God saying to the world, ‘I love you.’” – Billy Graham

How do I love God? Jesus said with all our heart, soul (energy), and mind (thoughts). What does that really mean? “We show our love for God by obeying his commandments, and they are not hard to follow.” 1 John 5:3 CEV.

If you haven’t already, take the first step and love God by accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. My prayer for you, your family, our communities, our nation, and the world, is found in 2 John 3 TPT, “God our Father and Jesus Christ, his Son, will release to us overflowing grace, mercy, and peace, filled with true love.”
