Compare, compare, COMPARE! Today’s society loves to compare practically everything! Job, house, single, married, kids, TV, clothes, and on and on… It’s out of control!
As we strive towards learning to love ourselves, we need to stop making comparisons to others. It does not matter what someone else has, where they live, or what they do. All that matters is you and what God has called you to do.
Galatians 6:4 NLT speaks to this the best “Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else.”
By making comparisons, it will eventually lead us into feelings we should not have; pride, jealousy, disappointment, unhappiness, etc. So let’s be intentional by trying to reach a level of contentment that Matthew 5:5 MSG defines, “You’re blessed when you’re content with just who you are—no more, no less. That’s the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can’t be bought.”
My prayer for you is a quote by Matty Mullins, “The only person you should try to be better than is who you were yesterday.”
