“As water reflects the face, so the heart reflects the person.” ― Proverbs 27:19 CSB
So, what kind of things are you reflecting? Let’s look at Luke 6:45 (TPT), “…Out of the virtue stored in their hearts, good and upright people will produce good fruit. But out of the evil hidden in their hearts, evil ones will produce what is evil. For the overflow of what has been stored in your heart will be seen by your fruit and will be heard in your words.”
In upcoming topics, we will discuss “our fruit” and “our words” although for today let’s focus on our hearts. Notice that what is in our hearts reflects the type of person we are, good or evil. It’s interesting that an evil person “hides” the evil in their heart, which can also mean they try to appear “like they’re a good person,” but the evidence will be what they yield and how they act.
My question to you is, “What is stored in your heart?” Is it kindness, humility, peace, goodness, forgiveness, etc.? Or is it anger, pride, dishonesty, cruelty, ruthlessness, etc.?
We need to be very honest with ourselves while on this path of learning to love ourselves. So if there is anything hidden in our heart that is evil, we need to turn it over to God so he can help us. God said in Ezekiel 36:26 TLB, “And I will give you a new heart—I will give you new and right desires—and put a new spirit within you. I will take out your stony hearts of sin and give you new hearts of love.”
All we need to do is ask Him to forgive us and change us. Psalms 51:10 ISV is a great scripture to pray, “God, create a pure heart in me, and renew a right attitude within me.”
Finally, let me share something “And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.” ― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
