“The fruit of love is service, which is compassion in action.” ― Mother Teresa
Recently, we talked about “putting on love” that binds several crucial virtues we need to dress in every day. They are essential in our desire to demonstrate unity by loving our neighbor. Let’s begin by addressing the first virtue, Compassion.
What is compassion? The Merriam-Webster dictionary definition is “sympathetic consciousness of others’ distress together with a desire to alleviate it.”
In Romans 12:13 (TPT) it indicates that we are to, “Take a constant interest in the needs of God’s beloved people and respond by helping them…” Notice that it says constant and not once in a while?
Continually, we are to have sympathy towards others in need and aid them.
As we continue on our Love Walk, we should consider the advice from 1 John 3:18 TLB: “…let us stop just saying we love people; let us really love them, and show it by our actions.”
I pray that each of us will daily “put on love” and get dressed in Compassion by demonstrating it to others by our actions.
