Saint Patrick’s Breastplate

Last year, I wrote about the story of Saint Patrick and his ministry.  It included a verse from his Prayer of Protection, also known as St. Patrick’s Breastplate.  That particular verse (next to last) called for Christ to be in all things.

This time, I’d like to focus on the fifth verse, which appeals to several aspects of God:
I arise today, through
God’s strength to pilot me, God’s might to uphold me,
God’s wisdom to guide me, God’s eye to see before me,
God’s ear to hear me, God’s word to speak for me,
God’s hand to guard me, God’s way to lie before me,
God’s shield to protect me, God’s host to save me
From snares of devils, From temptation of vices,
From everyone who shall wish me ill, afar and near.

We never know what each day will bring.  Although by starting each morning by praying this, we can walk in faith knowing God’s got us covered.  We are protected.

My question to you is, “What is your daily prayer for protection?

Thank you for your time. Be Blessed… LR Maddox
