“That most dangerous of opponents: the one who took pains to comprehend the position of his adversary.” ― Piers Anthony
While the craziness is swirling around and issues want to keep knocking at our door, what should we do? Let us continue the journey of “how to stay calm in the C-R-A-Z-Y,” with the next letter A. This one comes with two vital points, and in today’s post, we will address the first one, be Alert.
When I was younger, I wanted the Robot from Lost in Space to be my constant companion. He was always informing them when a threat was nearby, saying, “Warning, Warning!” or “Danger, Will Robinson!” Yet, someone would ignore him, and trouble would begin.
We have an enemy who is out to defeat us in any way possible. Unfortunately, this is not something that we can disregard and assume that we can get a “free pass” from it.
In 1 Peter 5:8 TPT, we are told, “Be well balanced and always alert, because your enemy, the devil, roams around incessantly, like a roaring lion looking for its prey to devour.” The meaning of incessantly in the Merriam-Webster dictionary is without interruption or relief, which means it is constant, 24×7.
Why are we told to be well-balanced (untroubled)? Let’s read the prerequisite in 1 Peter 5:7 TPT, “Pour out all your worries and stress upon him and leave them there, for he always tenderly cares for you.”
Wow, this is crucial! We are instructed to take everything bothering us and leave it with God. Because if we are emotional (angry, frustrated, anxious, afraid, etc.), we can make mistakes that leave an opening for the devil to manipulate us. When we focus on the problem, we are not trusting God to take care of it.
So, what do we do? We follow the instructions in 1 Peter 5:9 TPT, “Take a decisive stand against him and resist his every attack with strong, vigorous faith…”
If we want to achieve calmness while chaos roams around us, stay Alert! Do not ignore the warning! Give God our problems, walk away from them, and then stand & resist the enemy with our faith (we are building up through our Relationship – Part 2.)
I am thankful that Jesus gave us a warning and a promise in John 10:10 CSB, “A thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance.” Let us have faith in His promise!
