“If you want peace, prepare for war.” – Translated from Latin adage Si vis Pacem, para Bellum
Due to all that we have been dealing with this year, this quote seemed very appropriate. Especially as we strive toward “how to stay calm in the C-R-A-Z-Y.” In the last post, we discussed one of two points for letter A, Alert. Now, let’s proceed with the second point, Armor On.
If you have ever watched an Avengers movie, right before the team heads out to combat the bad guys, someone would yell, “Let’s suit up!” You would see some of them put on their battle gear, grab special weapons, and even transform into something else. The fight scenes were epic, and no matter how bad the war looked, good would eventually triumph over evil.
God has given us the formula to defeat the devil. And since we cannot see our enemy coming, we need to be prepared and suited up all the time.
We are told this in Ephesians 8:10-13 CEV, “Finally, let the mighty strength of the Lord make you strong. Put on all the armor that God gives, so you can defend yourself against the devil’s tricks. We are not fighting against humans. We are fighting against forces and authorities and against rulers of darkness and powers in the spiritual world. So put on all the armor that God gives. Then when that evil day comes, you will be able to defend yourself. And when the battle is over, you will still be standing firm.”
Let’s understand the armor that will prepare us for war (Ephesians 8:14-18a TPT):
• Put on truth as a belt to strengthen you to stand in triumph.
• Put on holiness as the protective armor that covers your heart.
• Stand on your feet alert, then you’ll always be ready to share the blessings of peace.
• In every battle, take faith as your wrap-around shield, for it is able to extinguish the blazing arrows coming at you from the Evil One!
• Embrace the power of salvation’s full deliverance, like a helmet to protect your thoughts from lies.
• And take the mighty razor-sharp Spirit-sword of the spoken Word of God.
Lastly, “Pray passionately in the Spirit, as you constantly intercede with every form of prayer at all times. Pray the blessings of God upon all his believers.” – Ephesians 8:18b TPT
I pray that each of us will be diligent and place our Armor On daily as we fight for victory and win our peace (calmness).
