#2 – Wisdom is… (Live Wisely)

I was told that karate has a courtesy: ‘Start with a bow and end with a bow.’ This is something important we value in our lives, because we never forget courtesy and a feeling of gratitude wherever we go.” –  Moa Kikuchi

Let’s continue our journey to learn what “wisdom is” by reading more of its definitions in James 3:17 (TLB).  In the last post, we learned, “But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure and full of quiet gentleness.”  The next description says,

…Then it is peace-loving and courteous...

Both characteristics go hand-in-hand because you cannot live peacefully with everyone if you cannot be polite or considerate.

Peace-loving is defined as “preferring to live in peace and to avoid arguments and fighting.” We are given direction on this in Romans 12:17 TLB, “Don’t quarrel with anyone. Be at peace with everyone...”

As we strive to live wisely so that we positively impact others, I pray we consider this quote to help guide us towards demonstrating the behaviors of wisdom:

One who is kind is sympathetic and gentle with others. He is considerate of others’ feelings and courteous in his behavior. He has a helpful nature. Kindness pardons others’ weaknesses and faults. Kindness is extended to all – to the aged and the young, to animals, to those low of station as well as the high.” –  Ezra Taft Benson
