“Victory is always possible for the person who refuses to stop fighting.” – Napoleon Hill
Let’s continue on this mini-series discussing some similarities between the Olympics and our Christian walk, as our next topic is the fight.
On the journey to become an Olympian, athletes face many challenges while trying to reach their goals. They will have to overcome difficulties, whether physically, mentally, or emotionally.
How do they do this? By fighting through any problem they are dealing with and then defeating it. Michael Jordan said, “Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.”
As Christians, we will face challenges in life, and some can be physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual. Regardless of the issue, we must fight to overcome it.
The Bible gives us direction on how we should prepare ourselves even before conflict occurs. We find this in 1 Timothy 6:11-12 (GW), “…Pursue what God approves of: a godly life, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness. Fight the good fight for the Christian faith.”
So, let us stay focused on our goal and be ready to fight for it! May these words encourage you, “That is why I run straight for the finish line; that is why I am like a boxer who does not waste his punches.” – 1 Corinthians 9:26 (GNT)
