#5 – Wisdom is… (Live Wisely)

A friend should be one in whose understanding and virtue we can equally confide, and whose opinion we can value at once for its justness and its sincerity.  – Robert Hall

Let’s wrap up our journey on learning what “wisdom is” by looking at the final definition in James 3:17 (TLB):

It is wholehearted and straightforward and sincere.

These characteristics of wisdom address our attitude, which comes from our hearts.  To be wholehearted means we should be passionate, devoted, or heartfelt about what we are doing.  Straightforward is being simple or uncomplicated about what we communicate or demonstrate.  And sincere is being honest, pure, & true about anything we say or do.

We get a clear vision of what this should look like in 2 Corinthians 1:12 TLB.  It says, “We are so glad that we can say with utter honesty that in all our dealings we have been pure and sincere, quietly depending upon the Lord for his help and not on our own skills. And that is even more true, if possible, about the way we have acted toward you.”  I pray that each of us will desire and strive for this.

We can live wisely when we demonstrate these qualities by reflecting God’s heart in our discussions and actions.  This allows us to impact others positively.
