“No duty is more urgent than that of returning thanks.” – James Allen
As I was reflecting upon Thanksgiving, my mind kept looping through the word ‘grateful.’
You see, the past 1½ years have been quite a journey for me. Unexpectantly, it was filled with issues, trials, and uncharted paths. All of this and navigating the impact that Covid brought into our world made it even more difficult.
But… Even while facing all of this, I relied on God and had His help throughout it. What He did was AMAZING!
When you realize you’re stepping out of a highly challenging season, you think, “How did it happen?” I know it was not by my own doing.
First, it was by God’s grace (unmerited love and favor). Second, by the support of family and friends, whether it was prayers, calls, text messages, or even a hug. The words of encouragement were uplifting and motivating. So, I humbly say to everyone, “Thank YOU!”
The simplest and yet the most impactful words to express gratefulness is “Thank you.” Let’s not forget to say it often, not only to those who help us but always to God.
My prayer is that we show our gratitude not only at Thanksgiving but at all times, good or bad. In 1 Thessalonians 5:18, it reminds us, “Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”
Happy Thanksgiving!
