“What the new year brings to you will depend a great deal on what you bring to the new year.” — Vern McLellan
Typically, expectations for the new year are incredibly high entering this month. Yet after a time, the anticipation dwindles. Doubts or distractions come in, and once again, resolutions fail.
Why is that? Well, Proverbs 20:4 (ISV) tells us, “A lazy person doesn’t plow in the proper season; he looks for a harvest, but there is nothing.” So, this means we need to plant our seed(s) at the right time.
When should this happen? If we want new or changed opportunities this year, January is the perfect season to begin.
What should we sow? Our time with God. Prayer, Fasting, and time in God’s word. To ensure we are doing His will and to get the wisdom, direction, and support from Him. “You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail.” – Proverbs 19:21 NLT
By sacrificing ourselves (humbling) and spending time to be with God, He will help us. An example of this is told in Ezra (8:21-23 ESV) when they wanted protection for their travels, “Our God is with everyone who trusts him… So, we fasted and prayed to our God about our trip. He answered our prayers.”
Remember… “And without faith it is impossible to please God, for he who comes to God must believe that He exists and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” – Hebrews 11:6 MEV
I encourage you to have faith in God and earnestly focus your time with Him this month so that you will reap a good harvest this year.
