“The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts: therefore, guard accordingly, and take care that you entertain no notions unsuitable to virtue and reasonable nature.” ― Marcus Aurelius
In the last post, we discussed our words and about how we speak, which originates with our thoughts. Although we do not always verbalize what we think, we need to be very careful about what we are thinking of.
While our hearts are changing to be of love, then our thoughts need to change too.
Romans 12:2 (NLT) indicates that God is helping us do this, “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”
What should we think on? Philippians 4:8-9 (MSG) says, “…I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse…”
In another version, it says, “…keep your thoughts continually fixed…” This means we need to think about these things all the time!!
As we continue on this passage of learning to love ourselves and changing our thoughts, let’s take this advice to heart in Proverbs 4:23 (GNT):
“Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts.”
