Now, Let’s Put It On! (Love Your Neighbor – Step#3)

Love is a force more formidable than any other. It is invisible, it cannot be seen or measured, yet it is powerful enough to transform you in a moment, and offer you more joy than any material possession could.” ― Barbara De Angelis

What a journey we’ve been on so far, in our continual desire to exemplify the meaning of unity in our day-to-day lives!

We began by identifying the key to unity is love.  Additionally, in our foundational scripture (Matthew 22:37-39 TLB), we determined three critical steps to be addressed.  So far, we have discussed Step #1Love God” and just finished Step #2Love Yourself” series as we’ve spent time evaluating and transforming ourselves, by embracing the person God made us. So now it’s time to address Step #3 Love Your Neighbor.” But before we can move forward, we must get dressed first.

Colossians 3:12-14 (NIV) tells us, Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.  Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”

We are being instructed to clothe ourselves in various virtues (we’ll discuss in future posts), but first and foremost we must have love, which wraps them all up together perfectly.

I encourage you to daily get dressed in the virtues and “put on love,” as it is essential in our desire to demonstrate unity by loving our neighbor

  1. Through difficult times it’s hard to love your neighbor, which can be co-workers….
When they seem to attack you from all sides, but remembering always God loves me and does desire me to demonstrate his love in all things…

    1. Unfortunately, we were not promised that life would be easy but we have God helping us to get through those difficult times. Yes, God loves us and we need to show that unconditional love to others too. 🙂
